Where to begin?!

Well well.. .where do I begin?  Happy New year! Now Happy one year anniversary to me and Kenny!  I really cannot believe it has been a whole year!  Well there really is so much to tell where do I begin… let’s just start with some pictures.
Christmas eve was quite the adventure this year.  It began with us bundling up in all the snow gear we could possibly fit on  our bodies then driving up the canyon with Dione, Taylor, Brynne, and Dane.  It ended with a tragic broken thumb of Dione’s, all because a stupid dog wouldn’t get out of our way as we flew down a cliff of death.  Luckily she did recover.

I loved having Christmas morning with just my husband.  Later we went over to my parents and had a fabulous time, but it was really fun waking each other up and getting just as excited to open presents together just like we were six years old again....
yes... our tree was only about 10 inches tall.  Because it was so small we put it on our table/deck furniture and put all the presents underneath.  It was fun to have this to laugh about.

Kenny made sure to make my birthday extra special by bringing my breakfast in bed and loading all these on top of me while I was still sleeping!  Best birthday ever!

We had so much fun going to Salt Lake’s New year eve party with Austin and Makelle… who are soon going to be wedded (APRIL 30TH!!)… The next day Austin and Ken had planned me and Makelle another big birthday celebration full of restaurants singing to us, playing tennis, getting our nails done, and wonderful birthday crowns and sashes that we were required to wear ALL day.  So fun.
And Finally... Our cruise to celebrate ONE YEAR!!!!

We had a blast celebrating our marriage… and even though the cruise was a little wet and rainy we still had a lot of fun.

Cheesy I know...

I usually am not one to be publicly cheesy but since I now have reason to celebrate being married one entire year… enjoy the cheese!
From deal making and bribes of who does the dishes versus the laundry, to running up the stairs contests - We have made this past year an adventure for sure!  Here are just a few reasons why I am so happy to be married to Kenny!

-I am so greatful to have a husband who I have so much fun with!

-I am so blessed to have a husband who fills my car with gas
and is so happy about it!

-I am glad I have a husband who is not afraid of spandex…
but probably should be...

-I love having a husband who challenges me to do my best
Here is to you Kenny dear!  I love being married to you and cannot wait to celebrate more years to come!!

-I love having a husband who LETS me win… (sometimes)

You and Me Goin Fishin in the Dark...

So we like crazy dates right?  Some of our friends (aka Makelle and Austin)  also like crazy dates.  So we take turns planning crazy dates!  Simple right?  Well it was the girl's turn to plan the date and we were ready to go all out.
Kenny grew up in Vernal and loved fishing all night on the Green River.  I figured that would be a perfect date!  Drive late at night, fish all night, and drive back to finish out with some IHOP pancakes.  Well, we began planning our adventure...  We stole the boys (who had NO idea what was about to happen) and met up in Heber to start the date. Well as we were driving the long road to nowhere we tried to get the boys to guess where we were going.  Soon we found they really had no idea where we were going!  Excited as can be I told them we are going to..... the Green River to fish all night.... No excited screams were heard like I had pictured in my head.  I looked around the car dazed and smiling confused. What me and Makelle did not know was that it was a five hour drive to get there.  I guess I had not realized the Green River was in Flaming Gorge!  After the shock of how far away our date was I got the excited chants from Ken and Austin that I had wanted.  :)  Four hours later we found ourselves fishing into the wee hours on the night while eating junk food and singing fishin' songs.  Suprisingly we caught so many fish too!  After driving another five hours back we all collapsed in our apartment and slept for a couple hours.  After our good hour and a half nap we woke up and went to Kneaders for breakfast.  Although the plan may have not worked out ... perfectly... it was still a fun adventure! :)

I have realized that today is October 19th.  This may not mean too much to some but to me I realize that next month I will have been married ten months!  Now to some this may not seem like too much.  To me it feels like I got married last week!  How has it almost been a year now?  Time is such a funny thing!  It goes by so fast but then at times it stands still.  I have loved every second being married to my best friend and am excited to be able to still have eternity!

Enjoy the Moment!

I love looking forward to big fun events! I love it when something fun and exciting awaits you in the coming weekend pulling you through the dreariness of everyday mundane moments. I’ve come to realize something though... It is more important to be exciting and happy in the moment and not always just look forward to something! Enjoy what is going on around you! Laugh about the funny mishappenings during each day. Enjoy the moment you are in!

Keeps Life Interesting

Where would we be without our failures?  Not laughing that is for sure.  I love to pretend I am a real homemaker sometimes and often I get a little over eager and start doing things like making a pie…  It was all going well I made a really pretty crust and folded it into fours just like my mom had taught me.  Carefully I placed it in the oven and took it out when it was golden brown.  Suddenly, it was leaking everywhere as the filling was the consistency of water.  Our failures are meant to teach us one thing or another.  Often we get so upset when we are not perfect or when things don’t turn out our way.  Reality comes and honestly we are not going to be perfect and the cool thing is… that’s okay!  Life would not be fun if we were perfect.  The important thing is to learn from each mistake and then move in!  Do not dwell!  Next time I make a pie, I will definitely not forget the corn starch.

Let's Finish The Race!

The Salt Lake Half Marathon was a big event!  Thousands of people were there and yet you felt so special for being there and trying to accomplish something so difficult.  Running a half marathon is very difficult- no joke!  13 miles might not seem incredibly long but when you are running it yourself it could seem an eternity.  Some parts of the trail were incredibly challenging and difficult while others were exciting and rewarding filled with cheers and shouts on the sidelines that kept you going.  I was running the race with three close friends by my sides.  Whenever one of us had a sore foot or tired knees we could recieve comfort and encourage ment from one another. After I finished this race I was more emotional than I thought I would be.  Cheesy I know, but this race can exactly be compared to our lives! We each are trying to complete our own personal difficult race.  Our own personal race is difficult.  It is long and sometimes it can hurt.  Times in our personal life race require the assistance of comfort and encouragement from friends.  Just as my friends with me on our race gave me the encouragement to keep on running and keep on going, we too can recieve comfort from our friends and family around us.  Even more so, we can recieve comfort from our dear friend, our Savior.  At times my thoughts in the race started turning down, I started to think there was no way I could finish this race strong... let alone even finish it at all!  Then I pictured my husband Kenny.  He was waiting anxiously for me at the end!  (With an embarrassing sign too I was sure)  He wanted me to do so well and was pumping me up before the race. I wanted so bad to have him see me finish the race strong with a smile on my face.  That picture alone in my head kept my legs moving, kept my feet moving, and kept my head up knowing that I could finish!  At time it's okay that the race is hard... it is suppose to be hard!  The important thing is to keep moving.  Keep putting one foot infront of the other.  Don't give up even when its hard.  The Savior is waiting for us at the end of our race.  He is our own personal fan, and is cheering each of us on.  Let's let him see us finsih the race strong with a smile on our face.  No matter what our final race time is, no matter how sweaty and tired we are.  He is still overwhelmingly proud of us for finishing the race.
